Our Barrel Challenge team – aptly named Routing Failure – is heading off this Sunday for the annual Winter Barrel Challenge with our custom fitted IoT connected Codit car! If you want to take a look under the hood and discover how we integrated the car with various sensors – check out this blog post.
The team consists of brave Codit’ers Robert Maes, Jef Cools, and Michel Pauwels, who will be driving a refurbished Ford Escort through rugged winter terrain in a bid to win first place.
For six days, our team will roar across Scandinavia in the Codit IoT connected car. But this is not for the faint of heart, they will traverse steep mountain roads, and brave the barren, cold winter landscape of the snowy north. But don’t feel too sorry for them, because they will also be enjoying the most beautiful scenery Europe has to offer, and of course, warming up every night around a cozy fire with a drink of their choice in hand.
Their route (pending changes in weather and conditions of course) includes: Travemünde (DEU) -> Trelleborg (SWE) -> Stockholm (SWE) -> Turku (FIN) -> Oulu (FIN) -> Umeå (SWE) -> Östersund (SWE) -> Hamar (NOR) -> Bergen (NOR) -> Hirtshals (DNK).
This, of course, takes them around the Gulf of Bothnia, where they will be sure to come across reindeer, perhaps a moose, and maybe, just maybe they’ll get to see the breathtaking sites of the Northern Lights. (We’re not jealous!!! Ok maybe just a little…)
Along the way, the team will have to complete a series of challenges in order to earn points so they can be the All-Conquering Barrel Challenge winners!
Keep your eyes peeled because we will be updating our social media and blog with regular updates on how the team is going. Fans can follow them on their Facebook page and not only that, you can follow them live and view all the data the IoT device is capturing on this website.
